Founded in 1977, NPA is a nonprofit trade association of approximately 700 members who collectively publish more than 2,200 subscription newsletters, varying widely in circulation size and subject matter; provides legal consulting; conducts surveys and studies; gives tips and techniques to help ensure the success of new product launches (promotion, editorial content, business expertise, industry developments; special working groups focus on five areas of publishing: marketing, editorial directors, customer retention, electronic publishing and CEOs; maintains an electronic bulletin board system for NPA members; membership includes Success in Newsletter Publishing: A Practical Guide, the How to Launch a Newsletter special report (see separate listings under “Publications”), an audio cassette, “Raising Capital for the Newsletter Venture and Hotline newsletter (see separate listing under “Periodicals”); Directory of Members & Industry Suppliers and other publications available; active (for-profit organizations) and associate (not-for-profit organizations) membership classifications (dues based on newsletter and newsletter-related revenue).
